Nira
A girl Nira who carries all the goodness of this world… didn’t know this world was not ready to understand her the way she is.
She was strong in herself… but she thought she is too vulnerable because of her sensitive nature.
She was rare… she even blesses the soul that cursed her.
Bizarre things started happening when she shifted from village to city for her studies.
The softest girl… lost her softness… when she realised nobody is believing her.
She said, “I’m afraid”…
Her friend responded, “You’re just having hallucinations.”
That was the first… and the very last moment she shared it with someone.
Things started getting more striking… as she started feeling déjà vu everywhere she was going.
For other people… she was just an ordinary girl.
But she had her own world residing inside her.
She visited her village to meet her grandparents in summer vacations.
Unlike other summer holidays… this time… the main shocker of her life was waiting for her in her own house.
The album… that she was watching for the first time.
There she saw the woman… who used to ask her for help… shouting… groveling.
She was Nira’s own paternal aunt… who died 20 years before Nira was even born.
Nira was watching that album with her grandmother…
She asked, “Dadi, how did she die?”
She replied,
“Beta… it was a horrible death I’ve ever seen or heard in my entire life.
You’re a kid… so just know that she died because of an electric shock.
When you’ll grow younger… and if I stay alive at that time…
I will surely tell you the whole story… explicitly.”
After some time… her parents saw her talking to a wall…
She was talking to her aunt though.
Her mother got scared of her weird behaviour…
and immediately decided to leave the village.
Nira’s father said,
“Don’t panic… I know someone who will quickly remove her possession.”
Her mother asked, “Should we believe him?”
He replied,
“Obviously… he is doing it from ages… and solved so many mysteries before.
Even his father was in the same profession.”
After performing a few rituals… baba said so confidently…
even Nira believed once… nothing wrong is happening to her.
They came back to their normal routine again.
She started losing her friends…
her interest in everything…
and her passion for studies as well.
The world became black and white for her.
She chose to live more in the black part…
where she was lost in her own thoughts.
Her mother realised… if she doesn’t do anything now… she’ll lose her forever.
She took her to the psychiatrist…
and after listening to her whole story…
The first question they asked was,
“Are you doing it intentionally? So that you get free from the studies?
Don’t worry… we have a solution for you.
Have these medicines as I prescribed… on time.”
It was antidepressant medicines.
But nothing changed.
Nira lost her spark… her self-esteem.
She knew what she was watching is real…
but she had nothing to prove it.
After failing multiple times in different things… she decided to end her life.
She ate all the medicines at once.
She got high fever…
but nothing much happened…
she healed soon.
She decided her only escape was to step before a speeding truck…
but even then… death refused to take her.
She had no choice other than accepting her pity life.
One day… her mother came to her room at 2:00 AM.
She was talking to a wall again.
She hugged her daughter tightly… and started crying.
She grabbed her face softly in her hands and said,
“Beta… I had two miscarriages before I had you.
For you… I’m a part of your life…
but for me… you’re my whole life.
Please don’t suffer alone.
I’m here beta… always.”
The moment her mother went outside the room and closed the door…
she started weeping bitterly.
Strange… but she found some sort of strength in that hug.
From that day till now…
she never failed again…
and gained back everything she had lost once.
She finally found strength in her vulnerability.
Though sometimes… still…
she sees her aunt.
